Perhaps one of the lesser-known grains, sorghum is actually a centuries-old staple in agriculture, and its uses are versatile and widespread. Although there are three different types of sorghum (grain, forage and sweet), here are some fun facts about grain sorghum (also known as milo) in particular: Grain sorghum is one of the oldest-known grains, having originated in Africa and India.

1. Sorghum is higher in protein and lower in fat content than corn (but is lower in vitamin A).
