Meet Lee Thorne, Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation’s Deputy General Counsel and Public Policy Coordinator.
Lee has worked for MFBF for four years and is responsible for advocating on behalf of farmers, ranchers, rural Mississippians and Farm Bureau members within Mississippi Government. In his role, he builds relationships with the Mississippi Legislative and Executive Branch and works on connecting legislators and staff with farmers in their districts, while educating these leaders on the agriculture industry.
“Relationships are the most enjoyable part of my job,” Lee says. “Building friendships with farmers and ranchers throughout the state and with legislators has been the highlight of this work since I began four years ago.”
When Lee is not working, he enjoys attending Mississippi State University athletic events, playing tennis, taking walks, eating at new restaurants and participating in activities at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. He also really enjoys studying history.
Lee and his wife, Martha Ann, are expecting their first child in November.
