Staff Spotlight: Kaleb Deese - Mississippi Farm Country

Staff Spotlight: Kaleb Deese

Meet Kaleb Deese, one of Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation’s Field Auditors.

In this role, he provides various accounting services and support to the county Farm Bureaus across the state. He prepares both corporate and payroll tax returns and ensures compliance for all payroll activity with regulatory agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service and Mississippi Department of Revenue. Kaleb also works with MFBF’s regional managers and the county Board of Directors in the budgeting and planning process.

“I am fortunate to be able to work with membership secretaries daily,” Kaleb says. “Being able to play a support role for them as they work so hard to serve the membership and their board is very fulfilling.”

“One of my favorite aspects is the budgeting process with the Boards of Directors,” Kaleb continues. “Being able to sit down with such hardworking and caring people who volunteer their time is an honor. They truly care about the well-being of their county and aim to manage in such a way that secures a better future and opportunities for others.”

Although Kaleb is not a farmer, his grandfather farmed in Smith County. His mother, alongside her siblings, grew up working the land.

“Stories of hard times and hard work were sprinkled throughout my childhood,” Kaleb says. “But also stories of endurance and pranks have given me a deep-seated appreciation for farm life.”

When Kaleb is not helping MFBF members, he can usually be found reading or listening to a wide variety of books, playing outside with his three children, or hiking and exploring nature.
